Soon to be Frozen in Minnesota again!

FROZEN is all the rage with little girls! This is the 5th cake request I have had for a Frozen themed birthday cake and cupcakes! This was the first Elsa doll cake I had made...and it was for a little girl named ELSA herself! What fun!

Monkeying around

This cake was made for a 2 year old who LOVES the color purple and monkeys! I hope she loved this cake just as much!

Baseball cupcakes

These cupcakes were a HIT!

Nugget #3 TURNS ONE!

No longer a little baby! Carter turned ONE and we needed a cake to fit this celebration! We decided on a circus theme and made cupcakes and a cake to match! I also made a separate smash cake for him to destroy prior to the party so I could get some fun pictures of him!

Round tiered football cake

The little guy I made this cake for shares a birthday with my own little nugget! I was excited to help him celebrate his first birthday and this cake was sporty and cute! I'm loving how the golf cupcakes turned out as well!

Batman cupcakes!

The blue and yellow frosting combo is definitely eye catching! I finally broke down and purchased a batman fondant cutter. I'm sure there will be more batman cakes in my future as I have three boys! It was fun to make these cupcakes and cake for a special friend of ours!

Sophia the First

I just have to say I love making ombre rose cakes! The end results are always so pleasing to my eye! This cake was a lot of fun to make and I loved using the color purple in many different shades! I hope this little 4 year old enjoyed her cake!
My little Cooper turned THREE!!! He picked baseball as the theme AGAIN this year! So, another baseball cake was made! It is always fun for my little nuggets when they actually get to eat a cake I made! They are always watching to see which cake will be made next and this time they found out it was for one of them! Happy birthday to my 2nd little nugget! I love you!

Barbie Dress Cake

This was my first time using an actual barbie within a cake! It was a lot of fun and I always enjoy designing little girl cakes as there is no pink in my home!

Football Field Cake

When August rolls around in Minnesota everyone switches into football mode! Here is a cake for a young man on his seventh birthday!

Bouncy Ball Cake

I was asked to make a cake designed around a ball theme for a little guy turning ONE! This is the end result. I love all the color that was put into this design!

Princess Cupcake Dress

This is a beautiful way to display cupcakes for a little girl's birthday party! The cupcakes were strawberry flavored and frosted  to resemble roses! This dress was so pretty I'm sure it was hard to eat!

Fishing themed cake and cupcakes!

This cake was made for a special Grandpa who was celebrating his 85th Birthday! That is definitely a reason to celebrate and I hope he enjoyed his cake!!!

Ducky Shower

This cake was created for a baby shower! It is a 6in yellow butter cake with buttercream and raspberry filling. It is frosted with buttercream and decorated with marshmallow fondant decorations!

TURTLE POWER!!!

Seems that Ninja Turtles are back in the spotlight! I'm loving the simplicity of this cake! The green was a great color to use this spoon technique to frost with! This is a 4 layer red velvet buttercream filled 8 in cake!

Pirate Cake

What's not to love about a pirate cake made special for a little 4 year old boy??? This cake was a lot of fun to make and had my own little nuggets requesting a pirate cake for their own birthdays!!! The cake is a double layered chocolate 10in cake with a double layered chocolate 6 in cake topper! Butter cream frosting was used to fill and frost the cake and marshmallow fondant was used to create the fondant decorations!

MONSTERS!

Who doesn't love Mike and Sully? This Monsters cake was created to resemble some of the most popular characters from the Monster, Inc movies. My favorite part about this cake was the minimal amount of fondant needed. I find that little kids really don't prefer the taste of fondant. Fondant icing usually makes the cakes look better, but not taste the best. So, I used a marshmallow fondant to create Mike and a few of the facial features on Sully and the rest of the cake is yummy buttercream frosting.

The cake was made using 2-8in yellow cake layers and 2-6in chocolate cake layers. I used 1 and a half cupcakes to create the top of Sully's head. I love how the piping turned out on Sully! So cute!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle

It seems that Ninja turtles are all the rage again! I remember my brother begging for the little figurines at the store in the 90's whenever we went shopping. I also remember watching the shows and movies with these crazy talking turtles...it makes me feel as if I am 12 years old again! Everything new is old!

These cupcakes were made for a sweet 4 year old birthday party. The cupcakes were a mix of chocolate and vanilla with peanutbutter buttercream and a stabilized whipped cream frosting. I've always tried to stay away from whipped cream frosting on my cupcakes because it was never stable enough to produce the look I was going for. However, this stabilized whipped cream frosting recipe is great!

Here is a look at the finished product:

Baby shower cupcake tree!

As much as I like making cakes and cupcakes my favorite by far is a cupcake tree design! I get to make both cake and cupcakes while mixing in lots of different ideas.  I was asked to design cupcakes and a cake topper for a mom to be who was expecting twin girls! I have three boys, so it was a lot of fun looking up pink cupcake and cake ideas.

The cupcakes were a mix of standard size and mini size with chocolate and vanilla flavoring. The frosting was a simple buttercream tinted slightly pink...I wanted to keep the pink really sweet looking and almost colorless. I created fondant toppers for half of the cupcakes to give them some variety.

The cake was a yellow butter cake with buttercream filling. I then covered the cake in a marshmallow fondant.

 And the finished product!
